Is an online MBA valid in India?
Short answer
Yes — if the university held UGC-DEB entitlement for that programme, in that mode, for the session you joined.
An online or distance MBA awarded by an entitled university is a degree in exactly the same sense as a campus MBA. The award on the certificate is the same. What differs is the delivery, and the permission the university needed to deliver it that way.
Entitlement is the whole question. It is granted per programme, per mode and per session — so a university being "UGC recognised" is not the same thing as this MBA being entitled for your intake year.
What to check
- Ask the university for the entitlement letter covering your programme and intake year.
- Check that the letter names the mode you are studying in, not just the university.
- If the institution will not produce it, treat that as the answer.
